The School Anxiety/Refusal program at AMITA Health Behavioral Medicine Institute helps students overcome their school-related fears through proven medication and exposure and response (ERP) strategies based on real-world evidence of what works. In addition to a multidisciplinary team of anxiety experts and school refusal specialists, we also provide each student with an onsite school liaison to help ease their transition back to a typical school schedule.

Our program aligns with other treatment tracks for related conditions such as eating disorders, self-injury, autism, conduct disorders and chemical dependency. Our program may also include skills and process groups, including: Relaxation, Expressive therapy, Stress management, Peer refusal skills, Family contracting, Cognitive behavioral therapy, Exposure therapy, Family therapy

For most conditions, our care ranges from closely monitored inpatient hospital care to outpatient therapy. Treatment may include skills training groups and other types of innovative therapies.
